Usually used in Spa applications for face and body masks - Clays are great natural colourings to use in your cold process soap. Clays hold up well in this soapmaking process and do not fade.
For a lightish ruddy red use 1tsp to 2kg of oils. For a darker colour use more clay. You do not need very much of this clay to colour your soap - a little goes a very long way - experiment to reach the colour you desire.
To ensure the clay is well mixed into the soap either:
a. sift the clay into your oils and stick blend thoroughly to ensure there are no lumps before adding the caustic soda to the oils or
b. sift the clay into a separate bowl. Mix the caustic soda into the oils until just emulsified. Pour a small amount of the emulsified soap mixture into a bowl/jug and add the sifted clay. Mix/stick blend thoroughly to ensure there are no lumps and then add back to the main soap pot and mix well.
It is important to ensure the clay is well mixed so there are no specks or clumps in the finished soap
